Obituary of Helen P. Wells

Helen (Potoniec) Wells, 90, died unexpectedly at her home in Palm Beach Gardens on May 8th 2017. Helen went to heaven to join the love of her life, her husband, Lewis Wells Jr. and her son, Lewis “Mickey” Wells. She was born in New Haven on April 12, 1927, the daughter of Polish Immigrants, Stanislaw and Sophie (Stopkowski) Potoniec. She attended Commercial High School in New Haven and before relocating to Florida in 1994, she was a resident of Seymour and Branford, Connecticut. While in Florida she resided in Jupiter and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church before residing for the past two years at Brookdale Independent Living Facility in Palm Beach Gardens. Helen was known for her beautiful, happy and positive personality, always greeting someone with a smile, “how are you”, and sharing a story of her daughter or grandsons. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Marcia (Sergio) Azoy of Jupiter, Florida and her sunshine, her three grandsons, Michael (Nicole) Wells of Moodus, Robert (Lisa) Wells of Cromwell and Daniel (Melissa) Wells of Branford. She is also survived by her great-grandsons, Joseph Lewis, Charlie Lewis, Ethan Michael and Jacob Daniel Wells, her great-granddaughter Peyton Victoria Wells, as her step grandsons, Sergio and Christopher Azoy of Florida. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Sophie Ignatowski, Mary Pyrdol, Rose Kozlowski and her brothers, John, Stanley, Walter, Edward, Joseph and Theodore Potoniec. Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 PM on Friday, May 12, 2017, at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13 at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 9 Eld Street, New Haven with Committal to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park in Hamden, CT.
