Kenneth “Pops” Carter 88 of East Haven passed away November 12, 2017 at St. Raphael Campus. He was born September 16, 1929 in Lynn MA to Douglas and Ruth (Dodd) Carter. Kenneth is survived by three children, Trisha Nycek (Edward) of Guilford, Raymond Sembler (Lorraine) of Atlanta, Robert Sembler (Judy) of Madison and two daughter in-laws Debbie Ryker and Claudia McNeil and six grandchildren: Taryn Nycek, Gillian Soles (Nate), Jordan Morrison (Chris), Courtney Sembler, Collette Sembler, Collin Sembler and one great granddaughter, Cameron Morrison. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn (Priest) Carter (2015) and two sisters, Marjorie Gardner and Dorothy Weted. Ken served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War as a member of Tank Company 102. He was also a skilled carpenter who built residential houses in the Branford area in the early 1960s. Following his carpentry career he became a milkman for Knudsen & Marcus Dairy. "Pops" was always building or fixing projects in his workshop for family and friends. He had a love for dogs, puzzles, crosswords and especially UConn Basketball. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. All are welcome to meet and attend a graveside service at 11 AM on Saturday, November 18 in East Lawn Cemetery, River Street, East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to VNA Community Health Care located at 753 Boston Post Road in Guilford, CT in memory of Kenneth Carter.
