Obituary of Eleanore Donahue

Eleanore (Hugo) Donahue 96, of East Haven passed away peacefully on November 13, 2017. She was born February 25, 1921 in New Haven to Joseph and Margaret (Ludwig) Hugo. Eleanore is survived by her brother, George Hugo and numerous nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Donahue, parents and sister, Margaret Weidner. Eleanore grew up in East Haven and graduated from Commercial High school. She was Roman Catholic and attended St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven. After High school she worked as stenographer and cleaned houses as a side job. She had a love for teddy bears and tag sales. She also enjoyed collecting recipes and had an extensive cookbook collection. Eleanore made her own clothing and they were always glamorous. During the holidays she was very festive; she decorated and dressed for every occasion and season. She was a loving caretaker for both her father and her mother until their passing. In her more recent years she resided with her brother George and they did everything and took care of each other. Eleanore will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a graveside service on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 9:30 AM in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Derby Ave., West Haven. We will gather at the office. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
