Shirley Criscuolo 77 of New Haven passed away October 13, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born February 6, 1944 in New Haven to Howard and Isabella (Wardlaw) Skidgell. Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Dawn Chiaraluce (boyfriend, Michael Carrera) of New Haven, sister, Margie Bia (Dominic) of Branford, cousin, Sandra Sanzero of Branford, nieces/nephews, Debbie Bia, Kathy Allen (Bill), Dominic Bia and Anthony Bia, along with great niece, Stephanie Gambardella (Nick) and a great nephew, Mike Allen and great-great nieces, Julianna, Dillon and Jacob Gambardella. Shirley is also survived by grandchildren, Manuel Crespo, Carlos Crespo (Jackie Aponte), Marilis Valentin, Marisol Quinnones (Charles), Elizabeth Hernandez (Daniel), Ariann Otero, Daisy Fontanez, Nancy Stephenson, Elton Stephenson, Chalise Serenity and Chasity Fontanez along with great-grandchildren, Daniel Hernandez, Joshua Hernandez, Reynaldo Hernandez, Arycellis Hernandez, Jediah Vega, Natasha Quinnones, Charles Quinnones, Antonio Crespo, Manuel Crespo Jr., Chasidy Crespo, Chloe Stephenson and Coby Stephenson. Also survived by Shirley Canfield (Carlos), who was loved like a daughter, Elizabeth Vega (Gilberto), Esther Santiago and Jackie Melendez (Tito). She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Isabella Skidgell, husband, Louis Criscuolo (2013), son, Mark Criscuolo and a sister, Bonnie Skidgell. Shirley enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts, playing the penny slots but what she valued most was her family and neighborhood friends and kids. A special “Thank you” to Michael Carrera, Sandra Sanzero, Esther Santiago, Cheryl Stanford-Talbot and Jackie Melendez for all their kind and compassionate care of Shirley. A graveside service will be held at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven at a future date in the near future.
