In Branford, July 3,2008, Rebecca Smith Lane, 91, formerly of Cocheco Ave., Branford. Wife of the late Donald Lane, Mother of Jennifer Swiderski of Northford, Priscilla(Edward) Ochman of Branford, Arthur Lane of East Haven and the late Betsy Edwards. Sister of Winthrop Smith of Branford and the late Esther and Rachel Smith. Also survived by six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandaughter, Vanessa Ochman.
Born January 6, 1917, in New Haven a daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha Wilford Smith, Rebecca served with the US Navy during WW2 and had been employed as director of the elderly nutrition program at the Canoe Brook Senior Center in Branford.
Graveside service will the held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at In Memorium Cemetery, Wallingford. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, CT.
