In CT Hospice, July 25, 2008, Mary Gillen Chmura, 83, of the Village at Mariner’s Point, former longtime resident of Cosey Beach Ave., East Haven. Wife of the late Charles J. Chmura. Mother of Patricia Chmura of East Haven, Charles (Linda) Chmura of TX, Kathryn Chmura of East Haven, Lorraine Chmura and fiancée Raymond Dahlin of East Haven, Robert (Concetta) Chmura of NJ, Steven(Joyce) Chmura of Plainville and the late Joseph Chmura. Grandmother of Michael, Celeste, Amber, Brooke-Ann, Robert, Alyssa and Nicholas Chmura. Sister of the late Rita Himes and Eleanor Connelly. Born July 27, 1921 in East Haven a daughter of the late Henry and Eleanore Sellwood Gillen, she was a graduate of East Haven High School and had been employed for over twenty years as an office manager with Mackenzie machine & Marine in New haven. She had also worked at US Steel during WWII. Mary was a member of the Mothers of Twins Club, the Toastmistress club, the Pinoccle Club and was a member of the Young at Hearts Bowling Team. She enjoyed bowling and reading and playing bingo and occasional trips to the casino. She had been named Women of the Year by the YWCA. Funeral from Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East haven, Tuesday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clare Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Sarah, 246 Goose lane, Suite 1047, Guilford, CT 06437.
