In New Haven, Aug 19, 2008, Wilbert Messley, 87 of New Haven. Beloved husband of Rae Carbone Messley, brother of Lola Mae York of Mo. And the late Marquerite Thompson, and Earl, Robert, Leonard and John Messley. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Oct. 24, 1920, in Aurora, Mo a son of the late John and Lona Black Messley, he was a US Army veteran of WWII, serving in the European and Pacific Theaters of Operations. He came to Conn. In 1948 and was employed by National Folding Box Co. for seventeen years and then the US Postal Service for twenty-five years retiring in 1985. Wilbert was a lifetime member of the Post # 2090 VFW in New Haven, the American Postal workers Union and the Chapter East, Holy Family Retreat League. He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven. Private funeral service were held. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
