In New Haven, November 14, 2008, Frances L. Woodward, 79, formerly of Townsend Ave., New Haven. Surviving family members include Mary C. Godfrey and Patrick Hawes of Kansas City, MO, Virginia Walsh of Oak Forest, IL and Russell W. Sarles of Vero Beach, Fl. Born December 13.1928 in New Haven a daughter of the late Frank and Esther Woodward, she was an elementary school teacher with the New Haven Public School System for over forty years, most of those at Barnard School. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church in East Haven where she also was a Eucharistic Minister and had taught religious education classes. Frances was also a volunteer for many years in the gift shop at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Tuesday morning at 11:00. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church 11:30am. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 10:00-11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Haven Preservation Trust, 934 State St., New Haven, CT 06511.
