In New Haven, March 7, 2009, Martha “Jane” Nielsen Helland, 86, of Sunset Rd.,
East Haven. Beloved wife of Arne O. Helland. Mother of Arne C. (Regina) Helland
of New Haven and Nancy (John) Stampach of Hamden. Sister of Nancy Foley of New
Haven and the late Connie Ciastko. Also survived by seven grandchildren and two
great grandchildren and her cherished pets, Blue and Tibby. Born May 5, 1922 in New
Haven a daughter of the late Simon and Linnea Anderson Nielsen, she was a graduate
of the former Commercial High School. class of 1942.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Clancy Funeral Home,
43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may
call Tuesday morning from 10:00 until time of service. Memorial contributions may
be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave, PO Box 1004, Meriden, CT
06450.
