In New Haven, April 5, 2009, Joan Laske Fitzgerald, 77 of Hillside Ave., New Haven. Loving wife of fifty-two years of Edward Shea Fitzgerald. Devoted mother of Edward P. Fitzgerald and wife, Laura (DeFelice) of New Haven, Lisa M. Fitzgerald of Watertown, MA, Daniel J. Fitzgerald and wife Noelle (Alban) of Cincinnati, OH and Karen Fitzgerald Zoeller and husband R. Andrew Zoeller of Arlington, MA. Beloved grandmother of Megan, Edward, Kevin and Elizabeth (Liza) Fitzgerald and Gregory and Joseph Zoeller. Dear sister of James Laske of Branford. Born June 7,1931, in New Haven, a daughter of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Doyle Laske, she was a life-long New Haven resident, graduating from St. Francis School(Fair Haven) and Hillhouse High School. She was a past member of St. Francis Drum and Bugle Corps. Prior to raising her family, Mrs. Fitzgerald worked for SNET. She returned to the work force as a library assistant at St. Mary High School and retired as the head Liberian at the Young Men’s Institute Library in New Haven.
Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Wednesday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to St. Francis School Development Fund, 423 Ferry St., New Haven, and Ct 06513.
