In New Haven, June 21, 2009, Lucy Karpowicz, 89 of Laurel St., East Haven. Sister of Walda Evans of New Haven and Lee (Salvatore) Esposito of East Haven, and the late Edward Karpowicz and Zenon Karpowicz. Beloved aunt and great aunt of Debbie (Timothy) Henley and their children, Will and Lily Henley, with whom she resided, Barbara (Mark) Tucker and their children, Courtney Tucker and Ashley (Jason) Balch, William Karpowicz, Lorraine Morrisey, James Evans, Dianna Bradley and Michael Esposito. Also survived by several other great nieces and nephews. Born June 19, 1920 in New Haven a daughter of the late Wincenty and Bengna Deladul Karpowicz she was a member of the first graduating class of East Haven High School in 1938. Lucy was employed for over forty years at the New Haven Country club where she held several positions including hostess at the Men’s Grill where she treated everyone as if they were her own family. She had a great love for books and reading especially a good mystery. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday morning at 10:00am in the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Interment of cremains will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Hagaman Memorial Library, 227 Main Street, East Haven, 06512 or the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT., 06512.
