In Branford, Sept. 3,2009, Lillian Ciaschini Chudwick, 87, a resident of Branford Hills Health Care Center, formerly of Bella Vista, New Haven. Wife of the late Walter Chudwick. Mother of Carolyn (John) Caprio of East Haven and Ronald (Lucy) Chudwick of Madison. Sister of Gina Wyne of New Haven, Lena Tranchida of Bristol and the late Viola Clini, Eva Ciaschida and Nora Ciaschini. Also survived by four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Born Feb. 19, 1922 in New Haven a daughter of the late Romola and Elvira Giovanelli Ciaschini, she was a lifelong New Haven resident and had been employed as a waitress for the former Al and Sal’s catering in East Haven for many years and also had worked in the pharmacy at Bella Vista. During WW2 she had worked at Armstrong Aircraft in West Haven making life rafts for the Navy. Lillian enjoyed listening to music, especially “New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra. She also liked to play cards and bird watch and follow her favorite team the New York Yankees. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Tuesday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:30. Burial will follow in Northwoods and Soldiers Field Cemetery, Hartford. Friends may call from 8:00 - 9:00 am on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Branford Hills Health Care Center Patient Fund, 189 Alps Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
