In Branford, October 4, 2009, Julius D'Urso, 83, of Bishop Street., East Haven. Husband of the late Marguerite Josephson D’Urso. Father of James (Anita) D’Urso of Branford and Maria Rose (Mark) Parisi of East Haven. Grandfather of Melissa Parisi and fiancé Christopher Nowell. Brother of Rosemarie Gigilo of North Haven and the late Pasqualina D’Urso, Lucia D’Urso, Lucy DiGiuseppia and Alphonse, Daniel, Anthony, James, Frank, and Raymond D’Urso. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born April 15,1926, in New Haven a son of the late Vincenzo and Rosaria DiGregoria D’Urso, he was a graduate of the former Commercial High School in New Haven and served with the US Navy during WW2. He attended Stone Business College, completing courses offered by the American Institute of Banking and Dunn and Bradstreet, William College graduate school of banking. He joined First Bank in 1951 and worked in banking for over forty years retiring as a vice-president of Fleet Bank in East Haven. Julius was a proud member and past president of the East Haven Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He had received the New Haven Rotary Club founder’s award in 1993, was named the East Haven Chamber of Commerce Man of the year in 1975 for distinguished service to his community, and was a member of the 1988 East Haven Restoration Committee. He also was a real estate salesman for Moniello Associates. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Wednesday morning at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial is at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9:30. Burial with military honors will follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 8:00am – 9:00am.
