Obituary of Arthur W. Aubrey

In New Haven, November 17, 2009, Arthur W. “Poppie” Aubrey, 92 of Fenway Rd., Branford.Husband of Helen Ives Aubrey and the late Marie Hollingsworth Aubrey who passed away in 1985. Father of Richard A. ( Susan) Aubrey of East Haven, Jeanne A.( Peter) Lelas of East Haven, Barbara A. ( Thomas) Hamilton of North Granby, Sandra L. (Randy) Whittingstall of Groton and Carol H. McGhee of Guilford. Grandfather of Donna Morann, Cynthia (Salvatore) Pugliese, Maureen (Brian) Pierce, Sandra (Barry) Bascove, Judi (Robert) Benoit, David (Cindy) Hamilton, Kristen (John) Markarian, Garrick A. Aubrey, Heather M. Aubrey, Michael (Christi) McGhee, Alison (Todd) Curry, Jennifer Lynch and Heather (Keith) Lemire. Great grandfather of Carissa Morann, Mario Pugliese, Jack and Ryan Markarian, Cody Landry, Morgan and Daniel Pierce, Olivia and Hunter Bascove, Lucas Benoit, Killian McGhee and Drew and Emma Lemire. Brother of the late Kenneth L. Aubrey. Brother in law of Frances White of of Branford. Uncle of William White and James White. Born Dec.16, 1916 in New Haven a son of the late Wilfred and Lilly VanBuren Aubrey, he was employed for many years as a longshoreman by the Wyatt Fuel Co., from where he retired. He also worked for several other area companies including Conn. Coke. Arthur was a member of the Canoe Brook Senior Citizens in Branford. He spent many enjoyable hours in his home hobby shop fixing and building all kinds of things. He also enjoyed salt water fishing. Funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5 - 8 pm.
