In New Haven, Nov. 17, 2009, Agnes Izzo Cantore, of East Haven. Wife of the late Frank Cantore. Mother of Claire Dunaj, Monica, Marianne and Francis Cantore and Rosina (Thomas) Mauro. Loving grandmother of David (Dawn), Matthew (Kristine), Joseph and Christopher Dunaj and Joelle Mauro. Great - grandmother to Tyler, Alexander and Elijah. Step- grandmother to Melissa Ferranti and Robin Filley. Sister of Antoinette Vorio and the late Angelo and Donald Izzo. Also survived by eight step great -grandchildren. Born May 17, 1925 in New Haven a daughter of the late Dominick and Mary Cioffi Izzo, she was a graduate of the former Commercial High School in New Haven, class of 1944. She had worked as a school bus driver for the East Haven school system for twenty years, was a communicant of St. Clare Church and a member of the Ladies Guild of the church. Agnes enjoyed her family Sunday dinners and sharing many moments of laughter among her children and grandchildren. She took pride in making her famous pepperoni bread and minestra that everyone loved to eat. Her great -grandsons enjoyed her rice cakes, cornbread and banana bread. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Saturday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clare Church at 9:00. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4 – 8 pm. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
