In New Haven, Sept. 9,2010, Ruth T. Callahan Bohannon, 84, of Mansfield Grove Rd., East Haven. Beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Bohannon. Loving mother of Patricia Gigola of West Haven, Barbara Celotto of Wallingford, Joan Raccio of Madison and Frank ( Mayra ) Flynn of Hollywood,FL. Sister of Catherine Bruder of MA, Joan Gillette of Southington and the late Lillian Chmura and Jack, Raymond and William Callahan. Also survived by her five cherished grandchildren , nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born Feb. 28,1926 in New Haven a daughter of the late John and Theresa O'Brien Callahan, she was a graduate of the former Commercial High School in New Haven, she was employed as a switchboard operator and receptionist for several area companies including White Weld Brokerage Firm, Miles Laboratory and also C. Cowles Co. from where she retired.Ruth will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, always putting the needs of her family and friends before her own. She was a great cook who took great joy in preparing the family meals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday morning at 10:00 in St. Therese Church, North Haven. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the East Haven Fire Dept. EMS Fund, 200 Main St., East Haven, CT 06512.Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
