Obituary of Richard Rosa

Richard Rosa 80 of Hamden (NHPD, ret.) passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2018. He was born November 27, 1937 in New Haven to George and Lillian (O’Connell) Rosa. He is survived by his loving children, Michele Bailey (Wayne) of Brooksville, FL, Richard Rosa II (Holly) of Hamden, Chris Rosa of Hamden, Matt Rosa of New Haven along with 9 grandchildren;  Wayne Bailey Jr., Dayna Pecoraro (David), Richard F. Rosa III, Kristen Rosa, Tyler Rosa, Douglas Rosa, Zachary Rosa, Tanner Rosa and Tucker Rosa. He is also survived by his sister, Justine Altieri of New Haven, brothers, Dennis Rosa (Julie) of North Haven and William Rosa of New Haven and a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Rosa of Bushnell, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Rosa and siblings, Bob Rosa, Marilyn Rosa, George Rosa and Bernadette Stalker.

Rich was a loving, proud, and generous Father, Pop, Brother and Friend. He loved to cook and to go camping with his kids and grandkids, who were the light of his life. We lovingly dubbed him “The Commander” as he was very good at supervising. He was gentle, kind and very dedicated to everything he did. Rich had a way with speech; we always looked forward to the wise words of wisdom that were coming next. We will always remember him with the fun and laughter he brought to our lives. Life will never be the same without him.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private. Donation may be made to National Kidney Foundation @ Kidney.org in memory of Richard Rosa.
