William “Bill” Mortimer 69, of Branford passed away peacefully on October 18, 2018 at the VA Hospital. He was born in Boston on March 8, 1949 to George and Ann (Greene) Mortimer. William is survived by his sister June Squeglia of Branford, brothers, Thomas Mortimer of Massapequa, NY and Bruce Mortimer of Buffalo. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, George L. Mortimer Jr. Bill was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War and retired employee of Pathmark Foods with over 35 years of service in Buffalo and Philadelphia. He also belonged to the Retail/Wholesale Department Store International Union and the American Legion. The Mortimer/Squeglia family would like to thank John Dahill, Tom O’Brien, Eileen Mandell, Sully Sullivan, Frank Gwiazda, Sharon Willard, Kick Zacks and Betty Festa for all their kindness, compassion and friendship.   

Family will receive friends on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home  (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave, East Haven. His funeral procession will leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 23 at 10:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal and Military Honors to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
