Eileen A. VanDerMaelen, age 62 of East Haven, passed away on April 26, 2020, at Yale New Haven Hospital, Saint Raphael Campus. She was the daughter of the late Gustave P. Jr. and Marianne T. (Mancini) VanDerMaelen and preceded in death by her sisters Maureen L. and Kathleen M. VanDerMaelen. Mother of Jeffrey P. (Amber) VanDerMaelen of East Haven. Grandmother of Hailey R. and Riley P. VanDerMaelen of East Haven. Sister of Gustave P. VanDerMaelen III of East Haven, Joan L. Roberts of Leland, NC, and Christine A. (Mark) Machala of Nipomo, CA. Aunt of Christopher D. (Jessica) Roberts of Leland, NC, Cameron M. “Max” Roberts of Coraopolis, PA, and Matthew A. and Grace M. Machala of Nipomo, CA. Great-aunt of Enya P. and Axton P. Roberts of Leland, NC. Niece of Phyllis (Walter) Kaercher of North Haven, Catherine Mancini of East Haven, and Joan Nagle of Mexico. The family acknowledges friends Suzanne Smith of Branford and Karen (Kuziel) Olander of Wallingford for their unwavering support. Eileen had a long career in the Billing Department of Saint Raphael Hospital as an Account Representative. She was a life-long resident of Foxon and beloved by the past and present Maplevale Road neighborhood community. Eileen will forever be in the hearts of those whose lives she has touched and will remain as close as her last gift of so many beautiful memories. Thank you, Eileen. Her family will be holding a private service for her at a date yet to be determined.
