On Thursday, May 14, 2020 Jose Silvestre Knipping, loving husband and father of six children passed away at the age of 68 in New Haven, CT. Jose Silvestre Knipping’s birth was registered on February 28, 1953 in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic. However he was born on December 31, 1952. Jose emigrated to New York City in 1971 and joined the Army National Guard. Later in 1976 he moved to New Haven, Connecticut and had a career with the Local 12 Union of Roofers. Jose was a lover of people and music particularly salsa and merengue and the moves to go with it. You often found him listening to music. He loved playing the congas and the game of dominos. He was a free spirit full of character who loved his family and friends. He loved life and lived in the moment. Even in the toughest days he kept a smile and good spirit. His laid-back positive outlook made him a joy to be around and a good friend to call on. He is loved and will be deeply missed by us all. We will always remember his wonderful smile, fighting spirit and his favorite phrases, one of which is ‘Se te quiere de gratis.’ A prayer for him and everyone he loved: “ May the Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26 ) Jose is predeceased by his parents Quisqueya Jymenez and Jose Knipping his grandparents Federico Knipping, Isabel Manana, Jose Fernandez, Isabel Jymenez his wife Gladys Roman Rivera and son Jose Miguel Gonzalez. He is survived by his brothers Eduardo Knipping, Alejandro Knipping and sister Isabel Knipping his children Jorge, Jaqueline, Omaira, Jesenia, Jessica his grandchildren Jackiesha,George Jr., Marvin, Imani, Ayanna, AJ, Ariana, Kataleya, Chase, Cadel, Sophia-Isabel and six great grandchildren Jamair, Jayla, Jordan, Ariah, Alayah, Amora A Graveside Burial will be held in his honor at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Boulevard, New Haven, CT on Monday, May 18, 2020 at 12:00 pm (Noon) Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Due to the current pandemic, the graveside service is for immediate family only,please honor the family’s wishes by following the mandated CDC guidelines and social distancing.
