Agostino “Augie” Mannochi, 97, of East Haven and a proud US Army veteran of WWII passed away on January 21, 2021 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born October 17, 1923 in New Haven to Emidio and Rosa (Angelini) Mannocchio. Augie is survived by his son, Frank Mannochi (Frances Annunziato) of East Haven, daughter, Rhonda Cenotti of Madison, granddaughter, Erica Tenbrink, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces/nephews. Agostino is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose (Sorrentino) Mannochi (2000) and seven siblings, Ralph Mannochi , John Mannochi , Anthony Mannochi, Albert Mannochi, Lauria Porrino, Anna Criscuolo and Josephine Caporale. Augie was a graduate of Boardman Trade High School, Class of 1942 and then enlisted into the US Army. He served in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of the operations with Battery C, 112th anti aircraft artillery gun battalion as an automotive mechanic in Southern France and the Rhineland. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Upon returning home, he was employed for 32 years by Michael Schiavone & Sons and was a member of Local 478: Operating Engineers. Agostino loved spending time with his family, gardening, bowling, watching NASCAR and going to Foxwoods. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish of the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven with full Military Honors. Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT.
