Obituary of Jacqueline Canning

Jacqueline “Jackie” Casey Canning, 89, of Cheshire, died peacefully on February 3, 2021. She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on August 14, 1931, Jackie was the daughter of the late Peter Joseph and Catherine (Pelkey) McClean. Jackie was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a resident of Branford for almost 50 years before moving to Cheshire. She was a communicant at St. Mary Church in Branford. She enjoyed living on the shoreline, the beauty of nature, attending concerts on the Green, traveling, and the companionship of her cat, “Callie”. Prior to her retirement, Jackie worked professionally as a bookkeeper for several physicians on the shoreline, and as a volunteer at the Hospital of St. Raphael and Sarah’s Cupboard. Jackie is lovingly survived by her daughters, Linda Jerolmon, son-in-law, Dwight, Lori Greene, son-in-law, Joshua, and Beth Casey. She was preceded in death by her son, William Casey, Jr (Ann Casey). She has seven grandchildren, Justin, Shannon and Dr. Jade Jerolmon, Aidan and Olivia Greene, Scott and Caitlyn Casey, and five great-grandchildren, Jane, Desmond, Alice, Quinn, and Finley. Jackie will be deeply missed by her family and friends, and all who loved her and were loved by her. Her family was her greatest joy, and she will live on in their many happy memories of her. Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home in East Haven officiated the arrangements and private graveside service at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at a later date.
