Joseph Anthony Porto 82, lifelong resident of East Haven passed away August 8, 2021 at St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born January 21, 1939 in New Haven to the late Frank and Rose (Leonardo) Porto. Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Anne (Augur) Porto and four loving daughters, Catherine Ford (John) of Bethany, Susan Porto of East Haven, Patricia Nargi (Richard) of East Haven and Lynn Simpson (Larry) of Selma, Texas. Joseph is the proud Papa of his four granddaughters, Melissa Ford, Julia Nargi, Peyton Simpson and Avery Simpson and one brother, Frank Porto (Mary Anne) of North Haven. Joe graduated from Eli Whitney as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local 90 for over 50 years before retiring from Ed-Mor Electric. Joe served as a commissioner at the Tweed New Haven Airport and on the Board of Zoning Appeals for the Town of East Haven. He was a homebody who enjoyed spending time with his family and was always there to help his four daughters. Joe was a life-long Yankees fan and enjoyed getting together with his friends for coffee. Family will receive mask wearing friends on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven from 9 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at which time his procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven.
