Obituary of Elizabeth Guly

Elizabeth “Betsy” Guly, 79, of New Haven passed away on August 25, 2021 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born April 19, 1942 in New Haven to Walter and Veronica (McCarthy) Luettgens. Elizabeth is survived by her three children, Peter Guly Jr. of New Haven, Donald Guly of New Haven and Margaret Guly of Bradley, Maine, along with a niece, Christine Luettgens and nephew, David Luettgens. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Peter Guly (1990) and a brother, Walter Luettgens. Elizabeth graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1960. Before she started her family, she worked as a library assistant at the New Haven Public Library, a job that she loved and spoke about often. She would later go on to work at Edal Industries in East Haven and at Kmart in East Haven and New Haven. She loved her cat Mittens, was a lifetime collector of cat figurines, and a fan of UConn women’s basketball. She was a wonderful mother and will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a graveside service on Tuesday August 31, 2021 at 10 A.M. in East Lawn Cemetery, 58 River Street, East Haven. Please go directly to the cemetery.
