Obituary of Barbara Johnson

Barbara Johnson, 84, of Branford passed away peacefully on November 27, 2021, at The Connecticut Hospice. She was born January 30, 1937, in New Haven to William and Esther (Griesing) Johnson. Barbara is survived by her cousin, Fred Schmitt, and friends: Edward and Marguerite Nalewajek; Jill and Carl Bergquist; and many caring neighbors. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur Johnson. She was formerly employed at Richard W. Squeri Agency for over 50 years as a Personal Lines Manager and Office Manager. As a child, she enjoyed fishing, crabbing and boating along the shoreline. Later in life she became an avid fan of UCONN women’s basketball team and the New England Blizzards. Special thanks go out to Merl Brown, her devoted live-in caregiver, and to her care manager, Patti Urban of Aging Care Planning Solutions. In addition, the team from The Connecticut Hospice was so caring during Barbara’s final days. Family and friends are eternally grateful. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a graveside service at 10 A.M. on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Tabor Lutheran Cemetery, 40 Tabor Road, Branford, CT. Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven.
