Bruno J. “Sonny” Pino, 82, of Oceanside, CA, formerly of New Haven, passed away May 9, 2022. He was born January 31, 1940 in New Haven to the late Bruno Sr. and Jean (Esposito) Pin. Bruno is survived by his sister, Elaine (Pin) Philbrick of Meriden, a niece, Valerie Andreassi of CA, a nephew, Scott Philbrick (Kimberly) of Meriden along with great nieces/nephews, Luc Andreassi, Lily Andreassi, Jackson Philbrick, William Philbrick and Audrey Philbrick. Bruno moved to Santa Monica, CA in 1977, and got a position as groundskeeper in the Santa Monica School District. He loved being outside all day, and especially loved trimming trees. He became Head Groundskeeper a few years later. He retired in 1998 after 21 years. He eventually moved to Oceanside, CA, and resided in a senior mobile home park, and enjoyed walking along the beach each morning, and seeing friends. Sonny had many friends, and really enjoyed speaking to them about "the old days". Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 11 A.M. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal and U.S. Army Military Honors to follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. All services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Work Vessels for Vets, Inc. PO Box 215, West Mystic CT 06388 in memory of Bruno Pino.
