Obituary of Bonita Knickerbocker

Please share a memory of Bonita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bonita Knickerbocker, 69, of Ansonia passed away July 7, 2022, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was born on June 7, 1953 in Alberta, Canada to the late Eric and Ann (Gylaski) Hawkes. Bonita is survived by her children, siblings, and friends. Bonita came to the United States from Alberta, Canada in 2006 and has resided in Tallahassee, FL, Stamford, CT and most recently Ansonia CT until the time of her passing. She was a spiritual and reflective soul and took great care in showing her appreciation for all who joined her on her journey. Her kindness and care for others, especially in her final days, touched many hearts. Bonita was a self-taught artist who had early interests in sewing, crafting and photography. She was inspired by her parents and grandmother who all possessed creative talents. She created art in all forms including jewelry making, quilting, acrylics, photography, and collaging. She was drawn to abstract design due to the repetitive shapes and forms. Her travels inspired her work, especially her trip to Africa. Her interest in photography also grew over the years and she loved to capture the beauty of nature, street art, and people. She hopes her legacy will be to inspire the younger generation towards creative expression in all forms. All Services are private and under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
