Obituary of Orbe Ortiz

Orbe Ortiz 63 of New Haven passed away unexpectedly at home on July 15, 2022. He was born March 29, 1959 in Chicago to Pedro and Nilda (Ramos) Ortiz Zayas. Orbe is survived by his loving children, Orbe Ortiz Jr. of Branford, Michelle Wilson of New Haven, Natasha Ortiz of New Haven and Natalie Ortiz of New Haven along with eleven grandchildren, Hailey Ortiz, Carley Ortiz, Jayden Ortiz, Michael Gambrell Jr., Marien Gambrell, Kasey Jones, Corrine Jones, Anjanae Cox, Aryanah Reyes, Elaynah Reyes and Natalia Bella-Grace Dominick. Orbe is also survived by his siblings, Nilda Hussin (Montaser) of PA, Pedro Ortiz of NJ, Edwin Ortiz (Sonia) of Hamden, Mercedes Ortiz of New Haven, Raymond Ortiz (Felicia) of NY, Nelson Ortiz of Hartford and Sherleen Ortiz of New Haven and numerous nieces/nephews. Orbe was divorced, but had a special bond with his ex wife & mother of 3 of his children, Yvonne Galan. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diana Rodriguez. Orbe was one of nine children and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. He was a 1978 graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT. Orbe was very active in his prime and participated in many sports such as swimming, baseball and had a love for fishing. For many years he worked as a butcher and had a passion for painting and being the family handyman. Orbe leaves to cherish his memory his 4 children and 11 grandchildren Orbe L. Ortiz Jr., 42 (3), Michelle R. Wilson, 40 (4), Natasha Y. Ortiz, 36 (1) and Natalie Y. Ortiz, 34 (3). He also leaves brothers and sisters who loved him dearly Pedro Ortiz, NJ, Nilda Hussin, PA, Edwin Ortiz, CT, Mercedes Ortiz, CT, Raymond Ortiz, NY, Nelson Ortiz, CT, Sherleen Ortiz, CT and a host of special nieces and nephews, especially, nephew Jordan R. Luciano and great nephew, Jordan R. Luciano Jr. who resided in the same home. Orbe will be missed by many extended family and friends. He will be remembered as the laid back and willing to help out cool guy he was. He was also a diehard fan of the New York Yankees baseball and New York Knicks basketball teams. Family will receive friends on Saturday July 23, 2022 from 11 A.M. until the time of service at 2 P.M. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private at a later date.
