Obituary of John Santanello Jr.

John Santanello Jr. 54 of East Haven passed away July 21, 2022 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born March 30, 1968 in New Haven to John Sr. and Doreen (Kelly) Santanello. John is survived by his mother, Doreen and his children: Trevor Santanello, Lucas Santanello, Tara Santanello and Brooke Santanello all of North Haven. He is also survived by his sister, Cheri Foster (Scott Bouve) of East Haven, former wife, Regina Dayharsh of North Haven, sister-in-law, Jennifer Dayharsh of East Haven, mother-in-law Virginia Dayharsh of East Haven, nieces and nephews: Brittany Evans (Joseph), Kelsey Foster, Ronnie Foster and Jesse Dayharsh along with a great niece, Morgan Evans. John was predeceased by his father John Santanello Sr. and his brother Charles Santanello. John was a member of the East Haven High School class of 1986. He grew up with a great group of neighborhood friends who always knew how to have a good time. He studied culinary arts and worked as a professional chef at local shoreline restaurants. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, and guitarist, but his greatest accomplishments were his four children. He was a fun-loving and caring father who went above and beyond for his kids. On any given day he could be found shopping at the mall with Tara, cheering on his cheerleader Brooke, routing for Trevor at his baseball games or camping with his boyscout Luke. If you called on John he would drop everything, including his fishing rod, if his family needed him for anything. John was loved by everyone. His calming nature and infectious smile will truly be missed by all. Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 11 A.M. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with burial at a later date in All Saints Cemetery. Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
