Obituary of Betty Mase

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Mase, 72 of East Haven passed away on March 1, 2023 at CT Hospice. She was born February 22, 1951 in Indio, CA to Howard and Juanita (Branch) Roeloffs. Betty is survived by her three loving and devoted children; Tabitha Mase (Dan Varley) of East Haven, James Mase (Meghan Glynn) of New Haven and Victor Mase of West Haven along with four grandchildren she adored, Kayley Zielinski, Gennaro Mase, Gabriel Mase and Victor Lucas Mase. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Jo Kellett (Darwin) of Los Angles and numerous nieces/nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, former husband Victor J. Mase, granddaughter Mackenzie Marie Glynn and two brothers, Robert and Ronald McLendon. Betty lived a long and fascinating life. She lived a whole life in California where she worked for the Smothers-Brothers, and was in the original West-Coast production of HAIR. She then moved out east and started a life and family that would be the core of her world. Late in life she considered herself an entrepreneur as she sold jewelry and resold thrift shop finds, all while working full time. She was never found without a bottle of Coca Cola and a pack of Salem 100s. Betty was many things to many people. A great mother to her children, an avid spoiler of her grandchildren (who all called her Gah,) and a hard and dedicated worker who worked until a few weeks before her passing. Her laugh filled a room and she was rarely found leaving her house without a full face of makeup with accessories and an outfit to match. She was a wife and late-in-life caretaker to her late-Husband Victor Mase, a role she filled while suffering from her own illness. The only thing you could not say Betty was, was on time, which is only worth mentioning with the wish that we had gotten just a little more time with her. Family will receive friends on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 5 to 7 P.M. in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
