Obituary of Thomas J. Mauro Jr.

Thomas J. Mauro, Jr. 75, of Madison passed away March 13, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rosina (Cantore) Mauro, loving father of Robin Filley (David), Melissa Ferranti (John), and Joelle Ruggiero (William), brother of James Mauro (Karen), Michael Mauro (Angel) and Tina Mauro. He is also survived by his ten cherished grandchildren. He was the son of the late Thomas J. and Mary Ann (Glynn) Mauro. Thomas was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and John Mauro. He was raised in Woodbridge and had many fond memories of the area. Thomas followed in his father’s footsteps becoming a sheet metal mechanic of Local 40. He loved his trade and would point out many Yale buildings he worked on when driving through New Haven. Thomas’ pastime was working on classic cars restoring “sweet pea,” his 53 Ford Victoria. Family was important to him, and he hosted many gatherings. His favorite holiday was Christmas and was known as “Santa” to many for over 30 years. Thomas was an avid Yankee and Elvis fan and enjoyed going to Yankee Stadium. He was loving, caring, and always willing to lend a helping hand. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2023, from 9 to 10:30 A.M. at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. His funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Bernadette, 385 Townsend Avenue, New Haven, with burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
