Obituary of Carolyn H. DeMartin

Carolyn H. DeMartin, 81, of Branford passed away June 22, 2014 at home. She was born March 9, 1933 in Milo, Maine to Ernest and Harriet (Prentiss) Horne. She is preceded in death by parents, husband John DeMartin and brother Maurice Horne. Carolyn is survived by three children; Janet DeMartin of West Haven, Derrick DeMartin(Debra) of New Haven, Lori DeMartin of Branford , seven grandchildren; John Sawicki, Anthony Sawicki(Abby), Robert Sawicki, Lorraine DeMartin, Joseph DeMartin, Kara Lynne Rutt, Carson Rutt and five great grandchildren. Carolyn is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Bailey (Terry) of Milo, Maine and Helen Valente (Orrin “Dud”) of Cumberland, Maine. She was a graduate of Becker Junior College in 1950. She worked for CT Medical Service as an assistant to the president and later at Yale University Admissions Office. Family will receive friends from 4 – 7 pm on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private at a later date.
