Alfred F. Melillo, 81 Lifelong resident of East Haven passed away June 22, 2014 at Yale New Haven. He was born February 6, 1933 in East Haven to Dominick and Rose (Landino) Melillo. He is preceded in death by parents, brothers, Dominick Melillo Jr., John Melillo, sisters, Amelia Giordano, Angelina Meoli and Marguerite Colavolpe. Alfred is survived by loving wife of 59 years, Virginia (Marello) Melillo and two children; Patricia Blanchard and husband Wayne of Orange and Dominick Melillo of East Haven and a twin brother, Anthony Melillo and wife Jean of East Haven. He is also survived by three grandchildren; Christopher Blanchard and wife Sarah, Kayley Blanchard and Mary Teague and husband Ryan. Alfred worked at North Haven Ceramic and Tile until his illness. He was a heart transplant recipient 17 years strong and guitar was his lifelong passion. He was a member of the Yale New Haven volunteer community and played guitar for patients. His family thanks Yale for the wonderful care they gave him. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends from 11 AM until 12:45 PM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home on Thursday (Same day) at 12:45 for a 1 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Clare Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
