Josephine (Rosano) Giannelli, 98 of East Haven passed away July 23, 2014 at CT Hospice. She was born January 6, 1916 in Italy to Frank and Emelia (Popolizio) Rosano. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Andrew Giannelli, sons, Anthony Esposito and Richard Clemente, daughter, Debbie Dunn, sisters, Mary Buckingham, Gloria Kudasik and Lee Piascyk-Raccio. Josephine is survived by two daughters, Lisa Gargano of North Haven and Terry Vece (Joseph) of Florida. She is also survived by a sister, Annette Ives of Orange and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Josephine was a tremendous Italian cook, her meals where the best. She enjoyed cooking, going to the casino, reading and crossword puzzles. She was the former owner and operator of Clem’s Driving School, where as an instructor, taught many people how to drive. The Giannelli family would like to thank her nephew, Dr. Robert Buckingham for his guidance, love and care, Cindy Saboto, from the Agency on Aging, for all her support in keeping Josephine home over the last three years, Robin, Lezlieth and Lee for their kind and compassionate care and Delsa Garay, our heartfelt appreciation to you for your complete dedication to Josephine’s care and well-being.
Family will receive friends from 9 to 10:30 AM on Monday, July 28, at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM in St. Bernadette Church, Townsend Ave., New Haven. Burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd, Brandford CT 06405 or St. Bernadette School, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven CT 06512 in memory of Josephine Giannelli.
