Clytie O. Zyrlis 93 of Branford, passed away November 12, 2014 at CT Hospice. She was born December 9, 1920 in Long Pine, Nebraska to Alanzo and Eva (Bingham) Odbert. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, John V. Zyrlis. Clytie is survived by three children; John Zyrlis Jr. (Mary) of East Haven, Linda Keagle (Roger) of Korumburra, Australia, Richard Zyrlis (Kathy) of Branford, two grandchildren; Richard Zyrlis Jr. of Branford, Christopher Zyrlis (Allison) of Mystic and two great grandchildren; Owen and Caleb Zyrlis. Clytie is also survived by step family; Stewart Dotson (Veronica), John Dotson (Laura), Melissa Scott (Robert),Tiffany Stevens-Schoppe, Rachael Dotson, Evan Dotson, Natalie Dotson, Rebecca Scott, Ashley Scott, Cameron Stevens and Corey Stevens. Clytie was a very active member of Old Stone Church in East Haven for over 60 years. She was one of the founders of their Thrift Store and volunteered there for many years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, as music was her joy. Prior to retiring, she was the office manager of Durable Wire in Branford. She enjoyed travelling throughout the US with her husband John, and spending summer vacations with family in New Hampshire. Her great grandchildren gave her special pleasure, as did her many friends. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 10:30 am in The Old Stone Church, 251 Main Street, East Haven. Burial was private at the Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Funeral service is in the care of Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Old Stone Church Building Fund, 251 Main Street, East Haven Ct 06512 in memory of Clytie Zyrlis.
