Obituary of Evelyn Sundwall

Please share a memory of Evelyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Evelyn Sundwall, 75, of East Haven passed away peacefully in her home on November 18, 2014. She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years Richard Sundwall, daughters; Laura Magaraci of East Haddam, Eileen Biondi of East Haven and four grandchildren; Matthew Magaraci, Sarah Bradley, Nicole Hunt and Dominic Biondi. She was also a loving great- grandmother to Peter and Isabella Bradley. Evelyn has one brother, John Grattan (Jean) of Tampa, FL. Evelyn was employed for many years as a bookkeeper and finished her career as an account representative at Herlin Press until her retirement in 1998. It is her love for family and friends that will keep Evelyn’s memory alive in those who knew her. She was the port in the storm for her friends and the glue that held her family together. Quick with a laugh and long with a hug, Evelyn was always ready for the next challenge. Despite her health obstacles, Evelyn loved to travel, camp, and find new places, adventures she readily shared with her grandchildren. Whether it was a walk through a flea market in Vermont or a drive across the country, Evelyn embraced the best in life. Some of her favorite times were those spent with lifelong friends Leslie and Betty Gerencser and Julius and Sandy Ivan, playing cards on a Friday night and hunting the countryside for fun and adventure. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2014 from 4-7pm at Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the Sundwall family. “Mom was the salt of the earth and will be greatly missed.”
