Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie T. (Derbacher) Lloyd, longtime resident of East Haven, passed away peacefully at CT Hospice in Branford, on January 3, 2015 at the age of 99 after a long and fulfilling life. She was born in New Haven, to Robert B. and Frances S. Derbacher on June 3, 1915. She married her late husband, William H. Lloyd Sr. (formerly of Quincy, MA) in 1934 in New Haven. She was the youngest of her siblings, Joseph, Robert, Clare and Karl Derbacher; all of whom preceded her in death. Our Mom was a firm believer that age was only a number and you were as young as you felt. She proved that time and time again throughout her life and was an inspiration of strength and courage to all that loved and knew her. She lived her life to the fullest in the company of family and friends alongside her strong faith in God. She dedicated her early married life to raising her four children and later worked outside the home at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, from which she retired. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, needlework and was an avid bowler as well as a dedicated Red Sox fan. She always had a story or event to share of her many life experiences. She is survived by her son, William H. Lloyd, Jr., daughters, Joanne L. Bauman, Roberta L. Minuit (Louis), and Elise L. Sivula (Eric). She also has 9 loving grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren that fondly called her "Gram-Gram" as well as several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Lloyd, Sr., grandchildren, Kevin Lloyd, Jan Minuit, daughter-in-law, Josie Lloyd and son-in-law, Roger F Bauman, Sr. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all those that gave their time and care to Mom in her senior years and final hours. Hours of visitation will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Rte. 80 East Haven, at 11:00 AM.
