Obituary of Eleanor J. Serra

Eleanor J. Serra, 85 of East Haven, formerly of Fair Haven, passed away February 24, 2015 at Branford Hills Health Care. She was born February 18, 1930 in New Haven to Antonio and Caroline (Capone) DeStefano. She is preceded in death by parents, husband Peter Serra (1975), sister Nicolena Pompilio and three brothers, Louis, Salvatore and Giro (Jerry) DeStefano. She is survived by sisters, Julia Ferrara of East Haven and Christine Serra of Hudson, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. Eleanor was a seamstress for many years and more recently was co-owner of CJ Casuals in East Haven with her sister Julia Ferrara with whom she resided with for many years. Eleanor enjoyed traveling and dancing was her passion. She was a member of Jolly Times Seniors. Family will receive friends for 8 am until 9:15 am on Monday, March 2, 2015 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Avenue, East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home at 9:20 am for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9;30 am in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 80 Taylor Avenue, East Haven. Committal to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
