Joseph Carbone, “Uncle Joe” 95 of East Haven passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford. He was born August 23, 1922 in New Haven to Frank and Margaret (D’Onofrio) Carbone. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (Fiore) Carbone and a sister, Lola DiLella of North Haven. Uncle Joe is also survived by a vast number of nieces/nephews and great nieces/nephews along with many brother and sister-in-laws. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Salvatore Carbone. Joseph was a proud and devoted American; he was a US Army veteran of WWII and member of the American Legion, Post 89 in East Haven for over 71 years, serving as Past Commander in the early 1980’s. After serving his country, Joseph and his brother owned and operated Carbone Brothers in East Haven, he later worked at Rose Hill Distributors until he finally retired. Along with spending time with his wife and family, he enjoyed being the “Bingo Caller” at the American Legion for 25 years.
Family will receive friends from 9 – 10:40 AM on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home at 10:45 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal and Military Honors to follow at East Lawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford CT 06405 in memory of Joseph Carbone.
