Obituary of Richard Weyel

Richard “Dick” Weyel Sr., 88, of East Haven passed away August 19, 2023 at the Veterans Home & Hospital in Rocky Hill, CT. He was born May 10, 1935 in New Haven to William and Annie (Russell) Weyel. Richard is survived by his children; Richard Weyel Jr. of Mansfield, Lisa Marie Weyel of Branford and Stephen Weyel (Deborah) of Branford along with several grandchildren. He is also survived by his niece, Colleen Shea of West Haven and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jacqueline Weyel and siblings: Joan Shea, William Weyel, Betty Weyel, Eleanor Weyel, Russell Weyel Jr. and Helen Weyel. Richard was a dedicated Marine and a man with amazing talent who strived in excellence in everything he put his hands on. He was strong willed and was determined to strive in any skill he attempted. There were many sides to his personality but when he became your friend and mentor he would always stand firm in his acceptance of you and never waiver. He will be missed and remembered always to this day and forward. Family will receive friends from 4 P.M. until the time of service with US Marine Corp Honors at 6 P.M. on Thursday, August 24, 2023 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home & Cremation Service, (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
