Obituary of John David Moffitt

John David Moffitt, 71 of Guilford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 26, 2024. He was born September 24, 1952 in Caribou, Maine to John James Moffitt and Gwendolyn (Perry) Creaser. David is survived by his mother, loving wife of 41 years, Kathleen (Madden) Moffitt and two children; John James Moffitt of Guilford and Keeley Moffitt of Guilford along with one granddaughter he adored, Brooke Moffitt. David is also survived by his siblings; Steve Moffitt (Sherry) of Guilford, Leslie Guglielmo (Russell) of Mass., Pamela Dodge (Brian) of Nantucket and Susan Norton (George) of Coventry, CT and many nieces/nephews. Dave also enjoyed not only close relationships with his family but his in-laws as well, he is survived by Lynn Ferrante of New Jersey, Vikki Hilton of New Jersey, James Madden of New Jersey, Lisa Madden of New Jersey, Dave Madden of Florida, and Kathleen Madden of Florida as well as all of his nieces and nephews. Dave also tremendously enjoyed his first grandchild, Brooke Noel Moffitt. Dave was a graduate of University of New Haven studying criminal justice. During his college years he started a successful painting business that continued on for the rest of his life. Dave was an avid reader and traveler. He married his wife Kathy and they went on to enjoy a wonderful marriage for 40 years and raised a wonderful son, John J Moffitt and daughter, Keeley A. Moffitt. He tremendously enjoyed being involved in his children's lives. Dave coached youth football when his son played and also recreational and travel basketball with his daughter, as well as, other sports and events his children were involved in. Dave had a lifelong passion for martial arts and participated for many years in Tae Kwon Do and later Aikido in New Haven. Dave's kind and generous spirit will be missed by all.
