At home, Feb.6, 2011, Donald "Whitey" L. Thomas, 88, of East Haven. Beloved husband of Gladys Nardini Thomas. Father of Kathleen Thomas of MD, Michael Thomas of East Haven and Joseph (Kathy) Thomas of North Branford. Grandfather of Deonna and Alyssa Thomas. Brother of Lorraine Sawyer of Wallingford, Jane Panagrosso of Branford, Sheila Thomas of West Haven, Audrey Thomas of West Haven, Joyce Thomas of West Haven and the late Dorothy Richardson, Mary Harris, Virginia Thomas, Gladys Falcigno, George Thomas, Irving Thomas and David Thomas. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Dec.4, 1922 in West Haven a son of the late George H. and Mary K. Foley Thomas Sr., he was a graduate of West Haven High School and served with the US Army during WWII. He was employed for many years in the street dept. of the Southern CT Gas Co. and was a life member of VFW Post # 9422 in West Haven.
Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthonys Church at 10:00 Burial will follow with military honors in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Friends may call Friday from 4-7pm. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthonys Church, 25 Gold St., New Haven, CT
