Peacefully, in Wallingford, April 17,2011, Michael R. O'Shea, 71 of North Branford . Devoted husband of Marian Kilfeather O'Shea. Loving father of Frederick Kelley and wife Susan of Guilford, Diane Graham of Guilford, Carolyn Graham of North Branford and Dorothy Becker and husband Richard of Killingworth. Brother of Rosemary DeGoursey of CA, John O'Shea and wife Anne of Branford, Joan Keogh of FL, and James O'Shea of Branford. Also survived by eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his special friends, Red Dog Harrison and Paulie Proulx. Born Dec. 4,1939 in New York City a son of the late Michael J. and Bridget Carey O'Shea, he served with the US Army from 1958-1960. He was a member of IBEW local #90 for fifty three years retiring after forty two years of employment as an electrician and foreman with several area electric companies.He served on the Union Executive Board, was a trustee of the pension fund and was treasurer of the 90's Sunshine Club. Michael was a member of Elks Lodge # 1939 in Branford for many years where he served on the Veteran's affairs committee, the special revenue committee, was a past chairman of the Board of Trustees and was a past Irishman of the Year.He was a former member of the Governor's Horse Guard, was a member of the Stoners Club, the National Assoc. of Naval Veterans Port 5 in Bridgeport, the Irish American Community Center and the New Haven Gaelic Football and Hurling Club.He was also a volunteer at the Branford Food Pantry.Michael will be remembered for his kind and giving heart. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Thursday morning at 9:30. Funeral Liturgy at St. Augustine Church, North Branford at 10:00. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8pm. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are requested to be made to Gaylord Hospital, 50 Gaylord Farms Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492 or the Elks Club Poster Child Fund, 158 S. Montowese St., Branford, CT 06405.
