At home, April 27,2011, Mary "Babci" Siwek Gauvin, 81, of East Haven. Wife of the late Lucien Gauvin. Mother of Claudette Gauvin of East Haven, Phillip (Debbie) Gauvin of East Haven and the late Paul Gauvin. Grandmother of Kurt (Jen) Kopchik of Long Island, Olivia Kopchik of New York City, Phillip (Stephanie) Gauvin of Branford, Kevin Gauvin of East Haven and Danielle (Michael) Santagata of New Haven. Great grandmother of Phillip Andrew Gauvin, Cameron Gauvin and Madison Gauvin. Sister of Jane Caddick of Southington and the late Helen Siwek and Stanley, Henry, Joseph , John and Walter Siwek. Born Aug. 13,1929 in New Haven a daughter of the late Sergiusz and Veronica Swieton Siwek, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High School and graduated from S.C.S.U. with a degree in library science. Mary was employed for many years as a secretary for the East Haven Chief of Police and then was a secretary in the East Haven School System. She was a communicant of both St. Stanislaus Church in New Haven and Our Lady of Pompeii Church in East Haven, At Our Lady of Pompeii she was a Eucharistic Minister and a past officer of the Ladie's Guild. She was a member of Foxon Vol. Co. #3 Auxillery and was a volunteer at the Hospital of St. Raphael Gift Shop. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Saturday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Stanislaus Church at 10:00. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 9 Eld St., New Haven,CT 06511.
