In New Haven, May 23,2011, Anthony " Poppy Tony " Midolo, 85, of East Haven. Husband of the late Marie Capone Douglas Midolo. Survived by sons Earle D. Douglas III and wife Carolyn of Wallingford and Kevin Douglas and wife Jamie of East Haven, a daughter Donna Hines and husband John of New Haven, grandchildren Dana Proto and husband Joe, Aubrey Hardy and husband Chris, Jeffrey Douglas, Heather Douglas and fiance Jacob Gotliboski, Jennifer Douglas and Brittany Douglas, great grandchildren Alyssa Marie Proto and J.P. Proto, a brother John Midolo of East Haven and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Dennis Douglas, sisters Lucy Cappelli, Mary Midolo and Josephine Pendred and brothers Louis, Frank, Salvatore, James, Joseph and Sabastian Midolo. Born May 5,1926 in New Haven a son of the late Carmine and Guiseppina Zappulla Midolo, he was a graduate of the former State High School in New Haven and served with the US Army during WWII. He worked for a time with the family bakery, Midolo's Bakery on Wooster St. and then was employed for many years by Winchester Arms and O.F. Mossberg Co. Funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
