The death of Frank F. Vorio of New Haven occurred Sunday in The West Haven Veteran's Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Phyliss Russo Vorio and loving father of Thomas F. Vorio and his wife, Diane Carbone Vorio and Sally Ann Vorio Stone and her husband, Albert Stone, Jr; grandfather of Leslie Ann and Barry Skarbek, William and Lisa Stone, Brian and Jennifer Stone, Thomas C. Vorio, Albert III and Dannielle Stone; also survived by 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is the brother of Peter Vorio and sister-in-law, Nettle, Dominic Vorio, Michael Vorio and sister-in-law Helen, Catherine Vorio and Rose Vorio Kozolis, brother-in-law of Theresa Russo. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters-in-law. Frank worked for the Henry G. Thompson Co. for 17 years as a machinist and for Consolidated Freightways for 28 years as a freight handler until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 443, the Annex YMA and the Annex Senior Club. He was a Navy World War II veteran for four years serving in The Asian Pacific Theatre aboard the PA 52 Troop Transport as a cook First Class. Frank participated in many battles including the invasions of Guam, Saipan and the Philippines. He was awarded the Victory Medal, The American Theatre Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Medal with six stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars and two letters of commendation of the U.S. Navy. Frank was kind and caring to his family and friends. He will always be remembered for his dedication to his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he always spoke of with love and pride. The other love of his life is Frank's dog "Shirley “who will miss hirn and carry on his legacy of chasing squirrels. He will always be known as Pop! A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Wednesday morning at 10:00 am. Friends may call at The Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Branford. Memorial Contributions may be made to the West Haven Veteran’s Hospital, Campbell Ave., West Haven, CT 06516.
