In Branford, Nov 13,2011,Catherine Smith Keyes,85, of Soundview Terrace,New Haven. Wife of the late Colonel George F. Keyes USMC. Mother of Colleen M.(Bilal Ansari) Keyes of Middletown, Ellen C. Keyes of North Branford, Daniel M. Keyes of Hartford, Dennis S.(Elizabeth) Keyes of Guilford, Paul F.(Sheron) Keyes of Cedar Run,NJ and the late Joseph Keyes. Sister of Eileen Butler of Hamden and the late Anne Hertz and Mary Tucker. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren. Born June 20,1926 in Bells Hills, Scotland,a daughter of the late Matthew and Marie Smith, she was a graduate of the former Commercial High School and had worked for several years at Heidi's Uniform Shop in New Haven. Catherine,Cathy,Uppa,Auntie Cathy,Kate, however she was known by her family and many friends, she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a devoted, loving and loyal mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday morning at 11:00 in St. Vincent de Paul Church,East Haven. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 839-841 Asylum Ave., Hartford,CT 06105-2801. Arrangements are with the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven.
