In Connecticut Hospice Branford, December 6,2011, Daniel J. Dempsey Sr., 78, of New Haven. Beloved husband of Joan Goodfriend Dempsey.Father of Daniel J. Dempsey Jr, of New London,Sheila (Mark) Rogers of Branford,Maureen"Bonnie" (Gerald) Fucci of Guilford,JoAnne Dempsey of Northford and the late Dennis Dempsey.Grandfather of Krista(James)Boss,Nicole Fucci, Gerald"Sonny"(Amanda)Fucci,Mark Rogers II,Katelyn Rogers and Melissa Hayes. Great grandfather of Kolbi,Aiden,Hazel and Kayleigh. Brother of the late Rose Maynard and Frank,James and Jack Dempsey. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born Aug.12,1933 in New Haven a son of the late Jeremiah and Mary Hartigan Dempsey, he served in the US Army and US Air Force and was employed for twenty-five years as a systems analyst at Norden Systems.He was a member of St. Bernadette Church in New Haven and was a former member of the Morris Cove Groaners Club. A fan of all sports, he especially rooted for the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Saturday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernadette Church at 9:00. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 4-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to CT.
