Obituary of William L. Wilson

In his home, January 17, 2012, William L. Wilson, 92, of East Haven. Husband of the late Adele Klevas Wilson. Father of Diane Villano and husband Erick of East Haven and Dale Robinson and husband Andrew of Bellevue,WA. Grandfather of Greg Robinson of Bellevue,WA and Daniel Robinson and wife Alicia MacGregor of Vancouver, BC. Brother of the late Frank and Leslie Wilson. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Born June 20, 1919 in West Haven a son of the late Leslie and Mildred Campbell Wilson, he was a graduate of Hamden High School class of 1938 and had attended Quinnipiac College. He served with the US Army during WWII and saw action in the European Theater. During the Battle of the Bulge he was listed as missing in action for a time before it was discovered he had been captured and was a prisoner of war. William was a skilled carpenter who built his own home and was employed for many years by the State of CT as a building supervisor. He also was a gifted musician playing drums and keyboards with the musical group the Hi-Lo's for many years. He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the Wallingford Elks club and was a former member of the Governor's Foot Guard. Funeral service will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial with military honors will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, New Haven. Friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00 until time of service.
