Obituary of Joseph L. Luzzi

In New Haven, Feb.25,2012,Joseph L. Luzzi,72 of East Haven. Beloved husband of Anna Marie"MiMi" Scalia Luzzi. Loving father of Scott E.(Patty)Luzzi of New Haven,Lisa(Gary) Montesi of Guilford,Shawn J,(Cecilia)Luzzi of New Haven and Susan E.(Steven)Love of FL.Cherished grandfather of Stephano and Franco Luzzi,Christopher and Olivia Montesi,Taylor and Shawn Jr. Luzzi and Kyle and Kory Love. Also survived by a sister Marie Nelson of Guilford, two sisters in law, Ann Luzzi of East Haven and JoAnn(John)Giaimo of Durham, two brothers in law Pasquale Troiano of North Branford and Nicholas(Dorothy)Scalia of Wallingford and many dear nieces,nephews,great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Anna Troiano and brothers John,Dominic,Donato Jr and Sante Luzzi. Born Oct.15,1939 in New Haven a son of the late Donato and Mary Balzano Luzzi, he was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School, class of 1957 where he was captain of the football team and was All State, and then went on to Villanova University where he was again captain of the football team and was selected as an All American.As his boys grew up he coached them in Midget Football. Joseph served in the US Army reserve and had been employed as a vice president of the First New Haven National Bank, then was General Manager of Almar's Food Products and most recently was in sales at Curran Volkswagen in Stratford.Joseph's family meant everthing to him and he loved all his children and cherished his grandchildren. Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home,43 Kirkham Ave.,East Haven, Wednesday morning at 10:30. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Burial with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 4-8pm.
